Birth Center Midwifery Care
Birth in our beautiful freestanding birth center attended by Erin Murphy, CPM, LM.
Erin is a Certified Professional Midwife, Licensed Midwife, and owner of Augusta County's only freestanding birth center--Queen City Birth Services.
We are conveniently located only 1 stoplight away from the neighboring hospital, so we are close by should a transfer be necessary.
Our birth center has two spacious birth suites, equipped with luxurious deep water birthing tubs, queen sized beds, sitting area, and toilet. Each room has a different style to suit differing tastes; one room is dramatic and modern, the other light and traditional. We are equipped with a variety of birthing stools, birth balls/peanut balls, candles, aromatherapy, and comfort measures. We encourage you to give birth in the position of your choosing, to include water birth. Eat and drink as you desire during labor, and stroll the 1.5 acre property if you need to wiggle your toes in grass and breathe the fresh air.
All of your prenatal care takes place at the birth center clinic, and the first couple of postpartum visits in your home. After that you come to the clinic for additional postpartum visits on weeks 2, 4, 6.
By choosing to receive prenatal, birth, and postpartum care with Erin Murphy, you will receive top quality midwifery care at an affordable fee.

Home Birth Midwifery Care
We provide home birth midwifery services within Augusta County, VA! By choosing to receive prenatal, birth, and postpartum care with Queen City Birth Services, you will receive top quality midwifery care at an affordable fee.
Home birth is for low-risk pregnancies only, and has many benefits. Clients can give brith in the comfort of their own familiar surroundings, and avoid a car ride in labor. Families do most of the prep work--gathering supplies, providing a clean space, doing laundry--and the midwife comes to you during your labor. We even have a portable birth pool that you can borrow (with deposit). The fee for home birth is $4500, and clients need to discuss the potential with their midwife by the beginning of their 3rd trimester in order to make necessary arrangements. Homebirth candidates must be within 30 minutes of a hospital w/maternity care, and must not have any additional risk factors. Prenatal care takes place at the brith center clinic, and the postpartum follow up care is the same as clients that birth at the birth center (first visit in your home, followed by clinic visits weeks 2, 4, 6).
Queen City Birth Services offers independent childbirth education classes at our birth center.
The classes come in a 3 part series:
(1) Childbirth 101, (2) Labor Comforts, (3) Hospital Birth Your Way. The fee is $200 for the entire series. Classes are located in at the birth center. Topics covered:
